Planet japes has updated their House Rules for our games
Some of these have been used previously or for awhile. I just hadn't posted them here in awhile. So instead of going back over and seeing what's changed I just copied our current version in it's completion here. I took a lot of the out of position stuff from the 30 for 30 league on GreatestMLBShowdown.
Team Building
Each Starting position needs to be filled by a person able to play that position. The only exception allowed to the Starter rule is that a DH is allowed to play 1B using a (-2) DEFENSE. For bench players and substitutes, if a player is playing a position that is not listed on his card, then his DEFENSE becomes (-5) except for the following conditions, if the player is playing:
1B
DH covering 1B receives a (-2) DEFENSE
Other Infielders (2B, 3B, SS) Receive a (0) DEFENSE
All other positions receive a (-1) DEFENSE score.
CF can be played by any player with a CF or OF position listed or by a LF/RF at -1 DEFENSE
LF and RF may be played by any player with LF/RF or OF position listed on their card. In addition a manager may use a CF to play LF or RF with the following adjustments to his DEFENSE:
Subtract 1 from the DEFENSE if he is a SPEED A
Subtract 2 from the DEFENSE if he is a SPEED B
Subtract 3 from the DEFENSE if he is a SPEED C
3B may be played by
SS-Subtract 3 from the DEFENSE
2B-Subtract 2 from the DEFENSE
2B may be played by
SS-Subtract 3 from the DEFENSE
3B-Subtract 2 from the DEFENSE
Designated Hitter (DH) can be filled with any player and their fielding score is not included in DEFENSE totals.
• Infield DEFENSE score is the total of the fielding score for 1B, 2B, 3B, and SS only.
• Outfield DEFENSE score is the total of the fielding score for LF, CF, and RF only.
Standard team building is 20 man rosters of 5000 total points (unless playing Fantasy/All-Star rules) consisting of the following:
• 4 Starting Pitchers,
• 4 Bullpen pitcher (total of all Relievers and Closers),
• 9 Hitters (one player for each position plus an additional player for DH),
• any 3 additional players excluding Starting Pitchers.
Advanced team building is 25 man rosters of 6000 total points consisting of the following:
• 5 Starting Pitchers,
• 4 Bullpen pitcher (total of all Relievers and Closers),
• 9 Hitters (one player for each position plus an additional player for DH),
• Any 7 additional players excluding Starting Pitchers but every position needs at least one backup.
At Bat:
The Pitch: The Pitcher rolls the D20 and adds their CONTROL.
• If the total is greater than the batter’s ON BASE (OB) then the pitcher’s chart is used for the SWING.
• If the total is less than or equal to the batter’s OB then the batter’s chart is used for the SWING.
The SWING: The batter rolls the D20 to determine the result of the at bat.
OUTS:
Strike Outs (SO):
The batter is out and it’s recorded as a K. No runners advance.
Pop Up (PU):
The batter is out. No runners advance.
Ground Ball Outs (GB):
All forced runners must attempt to move up 1 base. Any unforced runners may attempt to move up one base but must declare what runners are advancing. The Defense must decide if they are going for an unforced out, a forced out, or a double play (DP) attempt.
• Going for the Unforced Out: The batter is safe at first and the Defense rolls D20 + Infield DEFENSE.
If it’s greater than runner’s SPEED, the runner is out otherwise all runners are safe
• Going for the force out: The Defense chooses any 1 forced runner. That runner is out.
• Going for the Double Play: If there is a runner going to second base from first on a GB then a DP may be attempted. The runner going to second is automatically out and the Defense rolls the D20 + Infield DEFENSE. If it is greater than the batter’s SPEED then the batter is also out. If not, the batter is safe.
• When attempting a DP or going for the Unforced Out if the D20 + Infield DEFENSE roll is less than 10,
an error has occurred and the runners may advance one additional base. This counts as an error on
the player at the base the runner was headed to and any runs scored as a result are unearned and
do not count toward pitcher tiredness.
Fly Ball Outs (FB):
The batter is out. If there is a runner on second or third the manager may decide to tag up and send the runner to the next base. No runner from first may advance. If there is a runner on second and third and the manager decides to send both runners, the manager picks which runner to go for the out.
• The Defense rolls the D20 + Outfield DEFENSE. If the roll is greater than the runner’s SPEED, the runner is out.
• If the runner is advancing to home, +5 to the runner’s SPEED.
• If a runner from third scores, it counts as a sacrifice fly (SF) and the batter gets an RBI.
Getting on base
Base on Balls/Walks (BB):
The batter moves to 1st Base and all forced runners advance 1 base. No additional advancement is allowed
Hits:
• 1B: All runners advance 1 base
• 1B+: All runners advance 1 base. Before the next pitch, if second base is open, the runner on first may attempt to steal second base. Follow normal SB rules except the runner receives +5 to his speed this attempt. This attempt does not count as one of the 5 Manager Options (See below)
• 2B: All runners advance 2 bases
• 3B: All runners advance three bases
• HR: The batter and all runners score.
Advancing a runner:
On any hit the manager may send his runner an extra base more than previously mentioned. The Defense rolls the D20 and adds its Outfield DEFENSE. If its total is greater than the runner’s SPEED, the runner is out.
If there are 2 outs you may add +5 to the runner’s SPEED
If the runner started on 2nd or 3rd and is going home, you may add +5 to the runner’s SPEED (This may be combined with the previous +5).
Advancing on Throws
If a runner on 3rd is attempting to take home as an extra base before the outfield makes a throw for a play at the plate the offense may choose to send any runners on 1st or 2nd to the next base. The outfield may then choose which runners to attempt to throw out.
Pitcher Control/Fatigue:
• A Starting Pitcher can only pitch 1 time every 4 games. Your starting rotation is determined by salary.
Your highest salary pitcher is #1 in your rotation.
• If a pitcher pitches past the IP listed on his card, his control goes down -1 for each inning. A pitcher can go below 0 control.
• If a starting pitcher gives up 4 ER (earned runs) the pitcher loses 1 inning from his allowed IP for the first 4 runs and an additional inning for each 2 ER after that.
EXAMPLE: at 8 ER the pitcher loses -3 IP -1 at 4, -1 at 6, & -1 at 8.
• A starting pitcher also loses 1 IP for every 4 BB (not including Intentional Walks).
• A Reliever/Closer can pitch 2 games in a row but may not pitch the 3rd game.
• For a Reliever, 3 outs = 1 Inning. If a Reliever/Closer gives up 1 ER they will lose 1 IP.
• A Reliever/Closer also loses 1/3 of an inning (1 out) for each BB (not including Intentional Walks).
• A Pitcher is tired if he Pitched in 2 consecutive games for any amount of pitches, Pitched Tired in the previous game or Pitched more than 1 inning.
• If the pitcher pitched for more then:
• 1 inning (3 outs) they are tired until they rest one game
• 2 innings (6 outs) they are tired until they rest 2 games
• 3 innings (9 outs) they are tired until they rest 3 games
• 4 innings (12 outs) they are tired until they rest 4 games
EXAMPLE: (“x” is a rest day):
• 1 IP: 1/1/x • 2 IP: 2/x/2/x or 1/2/x • 3 IP: 3/x/x or 2/x or 1/3/x/x or 1/2/x
Manager Options:
You may use the following options up to 5 times per game (No more than 3 per)
Stolen Base:
• Stealing 2nd base, Defense rolls the D20 + Catcher’s ARM. If the total is higher than the runner's SPEED, the runner is out.
• Stealing 3rd base, Defense rolls the D20 + 2x Catcher’s ARM. If the total is higher than the runner's SPEED, the runner is out.
• If the Defense roll + Battery Score is 5 or less, make a second Defense roll + 2B and SS FIELDING. If the total is less than 10 the runner is safe and all runners advance 1 base. This counts as an error on the catcher and any runs scored as a result are unearned and do not count toward pitcher tiredness.
Sac Bunt:
You cannot suicide squeeze. Batter rolls the D20 on the Pitchers chart.
• If the result is a PU or SO/K; the Batter is out and no runners advance.
• If the result is a GB, FB, BB; The Batter is out and the runners advance.
• If the result is a hit, all runners advance and the Defense rolls the D20 + Infield FIELDING. If the total is less than the batters SPEED the batter is safe also.
Intentional Walk:
Move the batter to first base and all forced runners ahead 1 base. The next batter in the lineup receives +2 to his ON BASE -1 for each baserunner before the IBB (min +0). This does not count as a BB for pitcher Fatigue.
The black letters on black background make this very hard to read.
